August was a good month. I turned 61, my son turned 23. I had a bacterial infection that made me feel like a loaded Petri dish of diseased filth, we had slightly above average rainfall and the dog didn’t throw up on the carpet. It could be regarded the highlight of the year. Well, so far. September is shaping up to be a ripper. We have the Open Studios exhibition starting on the 12th, it is my daughters 21st, and I am hoping to get the valve stem seals replaced on the FJ Cruiser. On that note, if anyone knows a mechanic willing to do the repairs without taking off the heads I would love to get their contact details. Seems I bought the cleanest, best looked after FJ in Australia. Unfortunately it has the worst engine. They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, I didn’t think that applied to cars too! The one lady owner must have driven it in first gear for 190,000 kms, and before you call me a misogynist, the car salesman told me it was driven by a little old lady to the CWA and back. Unfortunately she must have lived in Sydney and the CWA was in Melbourne. And I’m not having a go at used car salesmen or saleswomen or salesthems, I think they are just selling a product that has the potential to ruin your life and reputation. Sort of like driving a Kia Tasman Ute. (Have you seen those things? The designer must have lost their job, surely)
