At 3,724 metres, Aoraki / Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand. It is actually one of those places where you go, "now that is a real mountain". I photographed this on a workshop I was running a few years back. This was on the way back on the walk to the glacial lake at the base of the mountain. It was getting dark and was pitch black by the time we got back to the carpark.
