This photograph of a dry river bed was taken on a recent trip to the Kimberley. I always wanted to photograph Purnululu National Park from the air during the wet season. With two other fellow photographers we hired a helicopter for three days and set about shooting every sunrise and sunset. We based ourselves at the Turkey Creek Roadhouse where our very stylish “Dongas” kept us cool during the middle of the day. As soon as it was light enough to take off we would fly into the park shooting all along the way. There are so many interesting scenes and we were able to land and walk into the gorges being the only ones there. It was a very special experience.
