On a recent trip to the Kimberley I witnessed one of the most violent thunderstorms I can remember. I was with my friend visiting his cousin in Broome, having a cup of tea and a chat. We were only there 15 minutes before the sound of rumbling thunder started to interrupt our conversation. Racing outside we saw what could only be described as a biblical event. A huge mothership shaped cloud of death and destruction was just about on us. We grabbed our cameras and raced to Cable Beach where it was heading arriving just before the rain started. Thinking it would be a good idea walking down on to the beach we took a harden up pill and battled the elements. There was lightning all over and winds whipping up a dust storm that made it very hard to not be concerned about being killed. It wasn’t until a bolt of lightning fanned out across the entire sky above us that we new it was time to head for the car. I remember looking at my friend and he looking at me and our eyes were like saucers. We only made it to the car before the rain came down and soaked the dusty roads of Broome.
A select number of photographs are released as one of ones and framed to Christian Fletcher's specifications. The frame, size and price displayed are the only option for this particular image and have been determined to showcase the photograph.
