I was photographing Cuba with fellow photographer Nick Rains. We were running a workshop and our first stop was the capital, Havana. It was a fantastic place to photograph and very safe. The city, in some areas, was very dilapidated but that added to the work. This chance image of a lady on her balcony I really love. When you realise that people live in such conditions you have to be thankful for what you have.
