Well it’s almost Christmas, can you believe it?! As I reflect on the year, I am surprised at how quickly it has passed. I probably only have twenty or thirty years left on this planet, or if the predictions about AI come true, about three! It is scary to think that we are going to give birth to a super intelligence that will most likely treat us like the Dodo bird. However, I am fully prepared. My wife has been a super intelligence since the day I met her. Firstly she was smart enough to marry me, then she was smart enough to know I was easily controlled. I have been strategising about the day when my charm and good looks wear off and I become as expendable as a banana taped to a wall. Of course we all know that was ART.

When the inevitable arrives I will enter my carefully crafted doomsday bunker - the toilet - and stay there until she has to put the bins out, then she will realise I have some value after all. Of course I am joking about my wife, she is like Siri, Google and Alexa all rolled into one. Ever so helpful and always listening! I’m whispering this as I type just incase she takes offence.

So when I think about the photographic / life goals I have achieved this year, I have to be happy. Forget all the angst, frustration and insecurity.

No wonder this year has gone quicker than a cinnamon scroll after a Weight Watchers weigh in. I’ve been busy. I must have pushed my camera button 100,000 times this year, and I still can’t understand why I haven’t lost weight? I might need to get out of the car the next time I take photos. Actually, and my wife will be the first one to tell you, I have put on a little weight this year. Nothing drastic...... I mean a big belly is a sign of wealth and prosperity and I don’t want to look like a struggling artist. It’s hard to exercise when there are so many more fun things to do. Like eating, browsing menus, drinking and browsing drinks menus, eating dessert and browsing dessert menus. I have a very sweet tooth, I’m not sure which one it is but most likely it’s the whole back row. I look at cakes and want them more than anything else. It’s like that with cameras and guitars, I think I need some deep psychological help. My wife likes to tell me that life is like a mirror. It reflects back what you put out to the world. I like to tell her it’s like a box of chocolates, you never thought you were going to get that fat if you ate them all.

Most of you who have ever been in our gallery at some point would have met Trish, our longest serving employee. Trishie is probably the kindest person I have ever known. She gives more than anyone and her positivity and laughter has helped to make our galley what it is today. Twenty three years she has been turning up and dealing with my quirks. Trishie is leaving us early next year and it is going to be tears all round as we say goodbye. One of the most beautiful souls you will ever meet, I don’t think we could ever repay her for the love and care she has given to our business and to our customers. She is a one of a kind.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. From Jen and I and our family and all of us at the CF Gallery, eat, drink and be merry. Just lay off the fruit cake, it’s notorious for flatulence!
