Do I need a Robot?

Now back to the premise of today’s newsletter.  I am sure you have all been asking yourself the same question as I. Do I need a robot?  Of course! We all do, it's probably a silly question.  I have been wanting a robot since the day I was married.  My wife is amazing, don’t get me wrong.  She has made me into the person I am today.  But she’s not a robot!  I want something I can boss around.  Something that will do whatever I say.  When we got married my wife said “I do”.  Then the next day it was “I don’t”.  A robot will be like, “Hey Christian, how can I make your life easier today?”  I would be a great boss and be very kind to my robot, like I am to my wife. 

So the next question is, what software will be running on my robot.  It definitely wouldn’t be Windows, you don’t want it to head to Epstein Island every weekend.  Apple Mac OS ?  It would most likely crack the shits if you misgendered it.  I think it would have to be Linux as no one knows what that is anyway, except the computer nerds.  It also is open sourced and less likely to spy on you.  So when you ask the robot for that second beer and to keep it quiet, you know it won’t rat on you!

I also want to talk about A.I.  Put your hand up if you are over long winded artist statements that are not authentic, accurate or even interesting to read?  Chat GPT, I call it Shat GPT, is the worst thing that could have happened to artists.  You can guarantee that if you can’t think of big, interesting, creative words to write and have to use A.I. to make you sound good, your artwork is probably just as dull.  Boy do I sound like a GenX -Boomer!!!!  I don’t want A.I. in my robot.  It has to be more dumb than me! (See this ain’t a newsletter written by A.I.)  The issue I see is, it is in fact the Boomers who are most interested in artificial intelligence.  The kids want nothing to do with it.  They pine for the old days, real music, film, an aesthetic that isn’t based on perfection.  They want the flaws, the grain and the grit.  Artificial Intelligence is just that.  Artificial.  It is fake, and whose intelligence has it been trained on?  So kids, lead the revolution away from this technology that is designed to make us Dumb and Dumber!

On a photography note, I am preparing for a solo exhibition, coming towards the middle of the year, at Saltwater, the new performing arts centre in Busselton.  I have set a task to create all the work in the next 30 days.  Will it be a disaster? Will it be a challenge? Will I get it done??  I have great hopes that I will rise to the challenge.  My wife has agreed to cook all the dinners, do my washing, mow the lawn, blow the leaves, tell me I’m amazing repeatedly and listen to death metal.  Or maybe she will just order me that robot I’ve always wanted?
